OK, I am going to start this post off with an amazing amount of honesty. I am so behind on my posts and writing in general that I will admit this is going to be super short and sweet. And being that my writing leans toward being short anyway, be prepared for photos!
I live in Boise, Idaho (for those of you who don't know that) and La Pine is outside of Bend, Oregon. So for me, the drive is about 5 hours through some stunning mountains.
I stayed in a cabin that belongs to a friend of my Dad's (RIP Ray.) Dad stayed the first night with myself and a girlfriend, you'll meet Julie in a moment. Before Julie arrived Dad and I hiked up to Pauline Peak in the Cascade Mountains . With stunning views of the 3 Sisters, Mt Bachelor and the lava flows this is a great 6.2 mile day hike to enjoy.
The face of the peak.
3 Sisters - Faith (the oldest), Hope (Middle) and Charity (the baby of the 3, which erupted no more than 2000 years ago.) From this view north is the right side of the photo.
We made it to the top! Now to head back to the cabin and wait for Julie.
And, here she is. This is the hike we did to Tumalo Falls - kind of. We headed up the trail to the falls only to find out that the city of Bend was doing some major work on the area. Hence, we were NOT allowed any further on that trail. We decided to hike up and around to see the falls. - Being that we did not know the area well enough, and it was HOT, with our water and food almost gone we decided to head back to the trail head after 7 miles. The hike was hot and amazing and 14 miles later we did get back to the car. Yay, for the great hike with Julie!
I love trees.
And here comes Lori! So you know, we have known each other since our early teens. The Paulina Lakeshore Loop is a great hike with much diverse terrain.
YES, champagne and coffee did occur for breakfast while on this great 4 day trip! Thanks to my Dad and my friends for a wonderful weekend of laughter, hikes and champagne.
Join me for a fun ride in life ... hiking, music, meditations, motorcycles and travels. Really, I love a good adventure!
